I have just installed NMS for iOS using one of my N360 licenses; however, it only seems to have anti-theft and backup, even though the feature list on this products website lists threat protection.
Does anyone know why this is, as I bought N360 so that I can have AV for iOS?
Sorry the information for this is a little difficult to find. From the 360 Multi Device page on Norton.com, when you click on the Compare tab, you will see this information that shows the Security protection is only available for the PC and Mac. Not for Android or IOS.
Actually this protection is available for Android. For Android it has a safe web browsing facility and an app scanner. It also protects against unwanted phone calls and text messages, locates lost phones, remotely locks them etc... But the features for the iPhone and iPad are quite limited in comparison.
I must also agree that what it does, and does not, offer for the iPhone and iPad is not terribly clear.
Originally Norton Mobile Security did not have a iPhone/Pad version but the owners of iPhones/Pad pressed Norton to introduce one. I believe they had difficulty providing an app scanning facility due to their limited access to the Apple operating system and so just provide those elements of the app that will work. Many people consider the App Store to be well policed and that there is consequently no need for an app scanner. I am somewhat sceptical but do not have an iPhone or iPad.
Which is all well and good; however, I have to agree with this one in that it is inevitable that iOS will some day have viruses (especially as the Apple Store has already had an instance of malware detected):-
The reason why I am dissapointed at Symantec's iOS offering is because their competitors do provide this functionality, which means that I will be switching vendors in order to be proactive:-
