The Norton Mobile Security on my LG Optimus Pg500 phone reports com.lge.lgmits (LGMIts Service) as a suspicious app. I understand the file is part of the phone's Andriod operating system.
I don't want to act on the warning and remove the file without confirmation that:
a. the warning is valid, and;
b. getting advice on how to replace com.lg.lgmits with a valid file.
Your help, please.

Hi poitr Welcome to The Norton Community.
Have a few quick questions regarding this issue you have.
Is the LG Android device you have rooted running a Custom operating system.?
If not what is the OS you have installed on your device.?
What version of Norton Mobile Security (NMS) do you have installed.?
The more info we have will make it easier to assist you with this issue.
Cheers.

Hi smithy,
The phone is running Android 2.3.3.
The version of Norton Mobile Security is V3.3.4.970.
The phone is rooted. By that, I mean I have a terminal emulator app where I can become the Unix super user.
Cheers.

Hi poitr
Thank you for that info.
From what i see in the Google Play Store Terminal Emulator apps do not require the
user to root the device.
I asked if the device was rooted becasue there have been issues with such devices
in the forums in the past.
But this seems (com.lge.lgmits (LGMIts Service) to be a false positive that the Norton
Team might have to look at.
I will alert the Norton Team of this issue and see what they think.
I will keep you posted.
Cheers.

Hi lghicks, bcpeck and poitr
The Norton Team has looked into this issue and request that
you now take the following steps with Norton Mobile Security
(NMS) on your Android LG devices -
1. Open NMS and run a manual LiveUpdate.
2. Then run a manual Malware Scan.
Please keep us posted and let us know how you go as this would
be much appreciated. :)
Cheers.

Thank you for the update poitr, that is much appreciated.
I will pass on this info to the Norton Team and hopefully they can get
to the bottom of this problem soon and have a fix for it.
Cheers.
Hi poitr
Have had an update from the Norton Team and the lg file com.lge.lgmits (LGMIts Service)
that Norton Mobile Security Malware Scan keeps giving a false positive for was fixed.
Could you please check another thing on your Android LG device? being to check
what the most recent defination file is that was downloaded and installed on your
device with NMS.
Open the NMS app > Menu > Activity Log > And scroll thru the logs and look for the -
LiveUpdate Anti-Malware application definitions updated to version XXXXXXXXXX?
What i see on my Android devcie is the most current definition version after a LiveUpdate
of NMS is as follows - 20130503004.
This info is needed to verify that your version of NMS is fully up to date.
If all of this is ok there may be some further steps that will be needed to get to the
bottom of this issue.
Keep us posted and let us know how you go. Thanks. :)
Cheers. :smileywink
