Norton Mobile Security v 3.160.3185 DOES NOT BLOCK SMS

I'm complaining, why doesn't Norton mobile app block SMS text msg's, it only has the option to block calls.

The relevant documentation states it blocks both yet I also see it states "Text Blocking not supported on Android 4.4 or later"  WTF!  My previous version of Norton mobile blocked both independantly.  I did not want to get get SMS text msgs from someone but would accept calls.  This is ridiculous and I'm tempted to do away with it and use another app specifically for this.  That's going backwards Norton, not into the future, you've left me limited now..!

Here is some additional information

I have not researched other AVs for mobile, so I cannot say if they are still blocking SMS texts. But in Norton's case, it was due to some change in the Android OS after 4.4. I'll see if I can find the information I am basing this on.

Hey sorry, I kind of didn't finish moaning...surprise

What's worse is that I had a live chat with Norton which wasn't helpful and took to long to get nowhere, the rep didn't really know either, they told me how to set it up (despite my being able to read and do it myself) but some of the instructions online indicated this process could be done then, I found another part of the site that indicated that sms texts couldn't be blocked, they sent me the quoted text from the same site I'd just seen ("Text Blocking not supported on Android 4.4 or later"".  I guess my point is, they contradicted themselves and were of no use to me.  I'll get over it but typically more money for less value nowadays. I don't think i'll be bothered to post any suggestions, it's too time consuming angry

Hi and thanks for the feedback, I am trying to find what version it was, it was on another device, but it's not easy to check my account to figure whether i installed it on my child's mobile or my personal mobile previously as the downloads do not show what version of the software I paid for and got, just what the renewal date and price was!  I can promise you though because I had a specific reason why I wanted only to be contacted by mobile calls as the sms texts messages started to be taken out of context both ways so the workaround became the agreement of mobile-call communication only.  I had access to the log of what sms txts i'd missed including their content without being drawn into time consuming sms replies on the dates I received them.  I'm disappointed with Norton for going backwards!

"Text Blocking not supported on Android 4.4 or later"

As I understand it, there were changes to the Android system starting at version 4.4 that no longer allowed Norton to block the texts.

My previous version of Norton mobile blocked both independantly

What version of Norton Mobile Security was this, and what Android version were you on?

I'm not sure if it is something that Norton can work around, but you might want to post this in the Product Suggestions board https://community.norton.com/forums/product-suggestions
