Can I agree whole heartedly with the comments made in this topic. It's clear Norton want to make money from users. Why whould I get more than two pages of SPONSORS before my requested website. It's not to be helpful as many sponsors want to redirect me via their "man in the middle" injected SCAM link to follow my browsing habits! Where are Nortons ethics. This practice SHOULD be illegal. Also a Norton popup suggests non existant broken links, endless temp files etc just to extract more subscription money. Plus the Norton VPN gave an imediate demonstrable performance reduction.
It is my opinion that the large USA software producers (we know who they are) have developed their wares to the maximum degree practicable and have diversified to become deeply commercialised.
Following the sponsored web results debacle, I quickly deleted the Norton browser and on principle refuse to upgrade any applications whenever possible.
I too have been using Norton Utilities since Peter Norton started up back in the DOS (1982!) era. Since Symantec took the reigns in 1990, it has become far less customer oriented and far more profit oriented. The pop-ups are seriously annoying (talk about PUPs!). They don't seem to have _anyone_ assigned to dealing with customer questions/concerns. I don't doubt that the program can be helpful for security, but there are other companies out there which are far more responsive to their customers and far less intrusive in their presence.
I would encourage Symantec to monitor and respond to their customers posting to the forum. They want our attention; it would be nice if we had a little of theirs, seeing as how they have our money in their pocket.
Nice post. I remember Dr. Norton from all those years back too. I've been loyal with Norton until now. I've become quite disappointed with their attitude to customers. They are so far removed from us that I refused to wait for the balance of my licence before moving. I just moved to another product. I'm so much happier and I paid a fair price..not the continously escalating price of Norton's bloatware. Don't even waste your time with their support channels. Terrible. Goodbye Norton...but not like you care anyway.
