Norton Online Backup error A1058

I have been using NOB for several months without any problem. But for the last 2 days the backup has failed with the following error:

 

Backup failed (A1058) 11/08/2009 08:07:27 AM 0 0 bytes

 

I have retried by starting it up manually and also rebooted the computer. I have used 2.18 of 25G storage.

 

What is the problem?

That error indicates that the backup timed out after waiting to connect to the backup servers. The likely cause is an unusually high volume of users hitting one particular server at once. Typically this error is temporary in nature, will auto-resolve itself and does not arise often.

 

Is it possible for the both of you to initiate a manual backup, outside of the usually scheduled time range, and advise of its result?

 

You can accomplish this by right-clicking on the NOBU icon located in the taskbar tray and selecting 'Backup Now'.

 

Originally, the Backup Now was what I tried several times, and still received the A1058 error.

 

However, as of 2 days ago and again yesterday, the backup succeeded.

How long did you wait between backup attempts when this issue was ongoing?
