Hi -
I have been using Norton Online Backup on my WinXP desktop for several months with no problem. However there was a glitch of some kind a couple of weeks ago and it stopped doing Automatic backups (or any other scheduled backup). After looking at posts on this forum, I uninstalled it, rebooted, and reinstalled it. But now it won't reinstall correctly - it loads all the software, connects to my Online Backup Account, adds my computer and starts to calculate my space - then after about 500 - 800 MB of scanning it pops up a message "Norton Online Backup Service has encountered a problem and needs to close."
I have tried this several times with the same results. I have also tried re-downloading Norton Online Backup, in case I had a bad copy. Also, If I cancel the failed calculation scan and reboot the computer to update the system tray icon, the automatic backup still does not work.
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. This is very frustrating to have spent good money for something that doesn't seem to work right.
