Norton Online Backup shows wrong free space

I recently purged all files from my online backup and then removed all computers from my online backup account; however, my account still shows 12 GB space used.

Symantec Support continues to be unsuccessful in resetting the used space to 0 GB, and is fixated on requiring access to my local computer.  I continue to tell them that the software is not installed anymore and the account will not reset to 0GB space used (25 GB free).

Any assisstance from anyone???

Thanks,

My online account does  not give me an option to view files or purge files.  I had previously tried to purge all files that were stored, when this did not work I removed all computers from the account.  However, the online storage still indicates that I have used 12.34 GB of 25 GB.

See the following screen image.

Any other ideas?

The purge process will rarely time out when removing a machine which can leave your account in this state. I'll send you a forum PM with a request for a bit more information from you and get it taken care of as soon as I hear back.

Ok, you're all set.

Thanks for the quick response and resolution to my problem.

i have the same 3 times in 2 month

Hello dudi13,

Can you please elaborate - you have the same where the space is not correctly displaying 3 separate times or having problems purging files? Have you contacted Support for assistance on the matter as well?

Hello Wesley!

Would you mind resetting my backup storage to zero? I purged my files and folders. then i removed my computer and reinstalled NOBU with the same computer. But now i have 26gb out of 31 availabe size... And not enough space to back up the folders and files i wish to!

Thanks.

Cheers,

Herve

PS: i sent you 2 messages ;-)

Hi Herve

Per our private message exchange the space issue has been resolved. You should be back to normal.

I'm simply convinced that Norton Online Backup is just a poor program.  I went through multiple phone calls and messages to get Norton to simply reset my account to 0 Gb so that no information was stored online.    Once this was done I reinstalled norton online and tried to use the program again.

I started small -- I backup only my personal files - 1.72 GB.  This went great.  Then I tried to back up our family photos (16.6GB in one folder) and Norton Online simply can't do it without erroring out.   I've been trying to backup the same 16 GB for the past 5 days with no success.  The backup either cancels, error W32 or error A2235.  I found a thread for A2235 and followed the steps to delete some files in the symantec work folder.

Error w32 says a file is being used by another process.  Its folder full of JPG pictures.  None are used by any process.  None are even used as a screensaver or wallpaper.  The folder has not been accessed in the last month.

Now, NOB shows 9.11 GB of 25 GB used but as far as know I've only been succcessful in backing up the first 1.72 GB.  The farthest % ever completed was 23%.  That was today but it errored out just in the past few minutes.  23% of (16.6 + 1.72 GB) is only 4.2 GB.  So what information is creating the 9.11 GB of stored files.

The 5 days for 16.6 GB is ridulus. My network speed is reasonable (checked with speedtest.net or webspeed.net - found in another thread about slow time). Even at 250 kb/sec this should not take 5 days.  16.6 GB is 17406361kb.  This is 69625 seconds, or 1160 minutes, or 60 hours or 2.5 days.  That should be it for 100%, not 23%.  At this rate, it will take 20 days to upload 16 GB of data.    I WANT MY MONEY BACK IF THIS IS REALITY!!!!!!  If it takes 20 days to upload, GOD only knows how long it will take to get back if my computer crashes.

Is this just me or is this a problem for others?????
