I had Norton Online Family installed on my computer with Windows Vista and it worked fine. I have now upgraded to Windows 7 Professional, and when I logged back onto my Norton Online family Account, it wouldnt recognize my computer, and i had to create a new computer and set the protection settings for each child. I updated the rules, and every time I start the computer it says that Norton Safety Minder is running on the account, but it still does not enforce the rules and does not block ANY websites listed for it to block
Hi savedone,
Norton Safety Minder is compatible with Windows 7. I would be more than happy to setup a remote desktop access and work together with you on this. You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details. You can find my email address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id=15038
Thanks,
Katie
Hi savedone,
Our Quality Assurance team is actively trying to reproduce the issue in house. Could you provide the following information to help them to recreate the issue?
- Was the user running Vista 32 bit or 64 bit?
- What was the service pack level on Vista image before upgrading?
- Was the account that you did the upgrade from monitored or not?
- Did you upgrade to Win7 32 or 64 bit?
- Did you have NIS or N360 running on the system? what version was it, or any third party security product?
Thanks,
Katie
I was running Vista 64 bit
I dont know, but most likely the latest service pack
Yes it was monitored
Windows 7 64 bit
No, I have McAfee VirusScan 8.7 (Before and after the Win 7 Upgrade)
I'm having the same problem with Windows 7. Has a solution been found?
Hi jmac,
Do you encounter the issue after upgrading to Windows 7? If so, please answer the questions about upgrading in my previous post.
I did an LMI with user "savedone" and uninstalled/reinstalled Norton Safety Minder on his PC, which corrected the issue.
Thanks,
Katie
Hi Katie,
Yes, the problem happened after the Windows 7 upgrade.
- Had Vista 64-bit.
- I believe I had the most recent service pack, SP2.
- Yes, the account was monitored.
- Windows 7 64-bit.
- I have Norton 360 v3 installed.
Thanks.
jmac,
Thanks for the update. Please uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder to see if it helps.
Thanks,
Katie
I tried and i still get the same error concerning the Norton Online Framework,
The other Norton 360 features are working fine. I just haven't been able to use the Online Family since the Windows Upgrade.

A remote desktop access was set up with one a Symantec employee and the issue was taken care of. Norton Safety Minder was unisnstalled, and then reinstalled on my computer, and now it works perfectly.
The Symantec employee me gave to instructions to solve this problem and now everything is working fine. I was able to successfully uninstall and reinstall Safety Minder, which solved my Onlin Family issue.
THANK YOU!
Please , is it possible to describe a little bit more the solution for this problem.
I am exactly in the same case, I've unistalled / reinstalled NOF. But no joy
Do I have to set specific parameters (admin rights...) ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance
