I installed NOL on 2 computers running XP and set up the setting for the accounts of my kids. One computer everything works perfectly. The other one is not blocking any sites at all those even those that are the block list. The safety minder is running and will give time limit warnings. I have updated the house rules from it several times. I have I have rebooted numerous times, but still everything is allowed on either IE 7.0 or Firefox. I have Norton antivirus 2006 (subscription expired, as I was going to install a newer version soon as I got everything else configured) also Ghost 10.0. No other unusual programs or blockers. Other computer that works is running Norton 360. We need it to work on all computers.
I disabled the Norton Protection , and still could access web sites that should be blocked under my sons and daughters account on the computer. I tried to disable the Ghost running in the system tray, but there was no option. I even tried to shut down the process from the task manager and it would not let me even with Administrator rights. On this computer I do have the Windows home server connector running. I have not copletely set this up on the other computer that NOL works on. What next to try?
You mentioned you were going to install a newer version for Norton antivirus 2006 in your original post. That’s a good idea.If you upgrade it to the latest version of NIS, it would solve the issue that you are experiencing.Since it’s an upgrade, you would get NIS with a lower rate than a new purchase.
