Norton password manager fails to accept legitimate credentials on Android 14 Sansung One UI 6.1

Issue abstract: Suddenly Password Manager on my phone will not accept legitimate login credentials that work fine on my Windows 11 Edge browser and Norton Private Browser. (Android 14 Samsung One UI 6.1) I have removed the app and reinstalled without resolving the problem. I chose to use the recovery key, but that also failed. I understand the confusing state created when Norton forced us to use different passwords for Norton account and Password Vault, and have tried to use valid creds for Norton account first then vault creds, despite Norton 360 being logged in and active. But nothing works. It is especially disturbing that the recovery key looped me back to the enter creds screen. It seems an extremely easy fix to that one problem to state “Log into your Norton account first” or “enter password for your vault” Just to make things “easier” / more vulnerable, I was using my constantly logged in phone for the “passwordless vault unlock feature” on my laptop. Now only my laptop and my wife’s apple devices can access the password vault.

In case anyone is monitoring community: I tried using a third Android browser to go to Norton - My Subscription expecting to be able to login to my vault and use the web interface online as I am accustomed to doing with the extension on Exchange or Chrome. I was allowed to login to my Norton billing account and was invited to “install” password manager. However the install button was not operative in any of the three places it appeared. Am I wrong to have assumed for maybe 20 years that I could rely on password manager to be there for me wherever I am, whatever device or operating system might be in use? Right now I can’t get logged into password manager on my phone which I rely on while traveling: international trip coming up June 24th, going out of state Tuesday and don’t want to lug my laptop. I still can log in on my wife’s apple devices but she won’t let my touch her stuff.

Big improvement: I went back to Norton, logged into my billing account (billing still works of course) and chose to “get started” with password manager and this time the “install” button worked, sort of: it gave me a blank screen for about 6 minutes now. I will give it until tomorrow to execute something.

Solved the problem. Not sure why, but this is what worked: I deleted password manager from my android phone where login wasn’t working and previous efforts to delete and re-install failed, including using my revovery key to restore service on my android. I had continued to use password manager on apple and microsoft operating systems. Since, at one time I tried to use the recovery key I had retained and it failed to restore service on my Android, I went into password manager settings on my laptop and changed my recovery key. I didn’t have to use that key, but when I went through the process of installing password manager on my Android the install key worked this time. And surprise, my normal credentials which had been failing succeeded. I am at least grateful not to have to give my heirs a new password to the key to my life. I suspect re-install and login would have worked if I had been able to delete all the cookies of similar trash left on my phone by Norton
