Vejdin,
Brilliant! That was just the sort of answer I was hoping for. Yes I did back up the Current Profile before uninstalling knowing Password Manage would be available in the upgrade SystemWorks .... hahah ... umm only it wasnt!..... so yes, I have it. Super .... I will get Norton Internet Security I think and import the file into that.
Thank you so much for your quick response.
MJ
MJ,
I advise you to download Norton 360 ot Norton Internet Security trialware just to be sure that Identity Safe will "accept" your current backup file. It works for me, but you should try for yourself. Trialware versions work for 15 days, so you can test Norton 360 or NIS 15 days for free. If you have already SystemWorks installed, you should install Norton Internet Security, as Norton 360 is not compatible with SystemWorks.
Ah! looks like Lady Luck was on my side and I selected the correct program. I just went and purchased Norton Internet Security just a couple of hours ago and got it installed and up and running!! And yes it imported my old NPM file and I have managed to access sites once again.
Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated.
MJ
Great! Now I feel better, as you’ve made the correct choise, and successfully restored your data!
Hello,
I had Norton Systemworks 2004 which included the Password Manager. Over time it had collected around 500 password/logins for me. Of course I never made a note of a lot of them elsewhere!
I now have a new computer and Systemworks starting playing up so I was advised to upgrade to the latest version. Which I did. I upgraded to
Norton SystemWorks 2008
Version: 11.0.1 Build: 67
Now, my silly fault, I didn't bother checking what came with it, I just assumed Password Manage would be with it. Doing a search of this forum I also found it is useless me trying to run them side by side as this is impossible. I also understand Norton do two products both of which contain an "identity" which is similar to Password Manage.
Having just spent out on the upgrade, funds are not that good to spend out too much more, so
1) what is the cheapest way to add some sort of password manager to systemworks 2008
2) can I somehow rescue my passwords stored in the old Password manager? I really do need to rescue some of those as old emails addresses will have been used at certain companies so will be hard to get the site to resend the info as they generally do it to the sign up email..
I seem to have messed up here and need some help.
Thanks
Mandyjay
Did you remove Password Manager from your old PC? If you still have NPM installed, you can save you logins to a file: from NPM's main screen, click on "Current Profile", then click Modify from right, and you should see a button "Back Up Data" to create a file. After that, you can import this file to "Identity Safe" (Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security both include this feature). It works for me.
