I've also tried reinstalling it and running it as administrator, but the only way it starts is running hsplayer.exe in the program folder. Otherwise, it's not even in the task manager. It just exits.

Did you redirected to this page: http://www.symantec.com/norton/nortonlive/free-pc-checkup.jsp?

I downloaded the setup, and installed Norton PC Checkup on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installation, and it seems to be running fine.

Can you try this:

1. Uninstall current installation from your machine

2. Go to http://www.symantec.com/norton/nortonlive/free-pc-checkup.jsp, and download the isntaller package again

3. Install the program by the downloaded setup package

4. Start program

Let us know the results.

The result is still the same. Norton PC CheckUp starting only through it's dedicated support application.

What is your installed security produc on your machine? Maybe it is blocking it to run.....

My security product is Norton Internet Security 2011, but there is now way for it to block a trusted application from running (Norton Insight identifies signed executables as trusted).

Can you please post a message in the Norton 2011 board as well. Maybe it is an issue between the two products, as with the 2010 release it works fine.

Plus can you make a screenshot about how your desktop looks when you open PC Checkup (does anything opens, etc.). Please open Task Manager as well, and include it to the screenshot as well.
