Norton Personal Firewall blocks file and printer sharing, what setting do I need to change?

You should set your network trust level to "Shared" or "Full Trust". 

Shared inherits default policy system rules but allows the file-sharing related traffic through on your local network

Full trust allows all traffic on your local network.

 

Goto the options page, under firewall, there will be a section titled "Trust Control".  You should see your active networks in the list, and you can set the trust level accordingly.

 

That should solve your file sharing issues.

I have Norton Security Online 10.2.0.30 (for ATT Yahoo customers)

 

If I turn the firewall off, I can use file and printer sharing. I don't want to have to keep doing that, especially since I have to do it on both computers!

 

What setting do I need to change? I've tried unchecking the box marked "Default - Block Windows File Sharing" but that didn't do anything (yes, I rebooted)

It seems like there might be another box to uncheck in there, I just don't know which one.

 

This is very frustrating. Thanks all for any help I can get.

If anyone has any other version of Norton Internet Security (anything that comes with Norton Personal Firewall) Please post if you know - I really need File sharing to work.
