Issue abstract: Quarantine message that never stops! How do I stop getting this message?

Detailed description: Norton pop-up quarantining this file which I guess affects my email program. But it pops up constantly. So something is causing it to continually pop up. How do I make it stop? Or how do I get rid of whatever is causing the threat secured / quarantine message to pop up?

Product & version number: Norton 360 premium

OS details:

What is the error message you are seeing?

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

Have you restarted your computer since starting to see this message? Restart, not shutdown and startup again.

Ok, just did that and opened my email program and the pop-up was there on top.

Did you try clicking Scan PC to see if that clears the constant popup?

I did that yesterday when the pop-up started and my system came back clean. Yet the pop-ups continued.

What client program do you use to check your email? Outlook? Is G-mail the account in question?

The email program that seems to be affected is eM Client. I use it to access Gmail and an old comcast mail account.

The linked article below is from eM forums, this is what they have discussed with your issue:

There may indeed be a loader in your system somewhere that loads it in your client once it is opened. I would do the following as my suggestions:

  • Download RKill from BleepingCompter and run it. Download RKill
  • Next run a full system scan with Norton whether or not RKill finds any processes it needed to stop or not
  • Clear all your systems temp files
  • Reboot and recheck again
