Norton Pop Up not wanted - Pandering for more money

I pay Norton $150 a year to keep my computer free from viruses.  They do a good job.  However the continuity send pop-ups directly to my computer and try to trick me into buying more service.

Is it possible to block the pop-ups that are pandering for more money?

Oh...  I am 87 years old and it feels like your trying to trick me into buying things I don't want.  Like a serve to upgrade applications that are free.
