Can someone please tell me what this type of virus does? I did everything with my effort trying to remove it (i.e. reinstalling my computer, using the power eraser tool...etc.) but none of them worked. Is there a solution to this type of virus? The power eraser program says it's advanced and I am freaking out. Please help me out!!! Suggestions??
And thank you so for helping me out. I really appreciate it.
This is not a virus itself - it's just only modified system settings by someone(in some cases some modifications are made by users themselves). If you know - you didn't modify this setting then just hit "Fix" button and relax :)
Thanks for the quick reply. I did try to hit fix but it tells me that the problem is "advanced" and can't be fixed with Norton's Power Eraser. Do you know what setting it is that is changed? The only thing I am worried about is that if I go online shopping, people will be able to access my pin code and other personal info.

It's a system policy which disables display of icons on your desktop(it includes shortcuts, files, folders and other stuff you can place on it).
To enable this policy for your account do the following:
1. Open windows notepad;
2. Copy & paste this text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"HideIcons"=dword:00000001
3. Save file somewhere as hideicons_enable.reg;
4. Navigate too that path via Windows Explorer(or other alternative file manager) and execute(double-click on) that file;
5. Reboot to take effect.
