Hello,
Today I did my Microsoft updates and as always, I run a full system scan after the restart. The results said no threats found. And again, as always following a Microsoft update, I also run Norton Power Eraser. This time, NPE reported that the file PresentationFramework ni dll file "might be a problem" but it doesn't know for sure. It said "We do not have enough information to know if this item is unsafe. Run a Cloud Scan to scan the item with the latest information on the Symantec server." So I ran the Reputation Scan on the folder that this file was in and it came up with a number of files that it literally said the same thing about: it doesn't know enough about the file to know if it was unsafe. I ran a full system scan last night as well as a NPE scan the night before and everything came up green. I ran a SpyBot scan as well today and it said no threats found. I don't know if there is actually a problem or if one of the Microsoft updates is causing this or not. The other thing to note is that the NPE message suggested removing the files yet greyed out the Fix It Now button. I'm guessing it did this because it didn't really see these files as actual threats.
So does anyone have any thoughts on this? I've had NPE give me a false positive on a file before during the time with the norton 227 update was having its issues. Right after that was resolved, it didn't consider that file (which was a standard file to begin with) bad, so now I don't know.
My comp is running slow or freezing or anything like that, I just tend to run scans often.
Thanks!
System is windows 7
P.S. How do I add an image to this post?
