I downloaded Power Eraser, but when I try to run it i get the message "NPE.EXE not a valid Win32 application." What can I do?
hello scott013,
Can you try downloading NPE again? Let me know if that helps.
If that doesn't work, please reply back with OS version, browser, browser version, and if you are connected via Wifi. Thanks.

Having same problem. Running Windows XP SP3, IE 8, cable internet connection.
Hello,
I had the same problem yesterday. The software has crashed each time in search of new version.
I download NPE again this morning and I discovered a new version 7.1.2003 is available.
http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.asp?lcid=1036
NPE from now works again.
Good download and use.
Cordially

Had exactly the same problem using Win7 Home Premium 64, administrator, upgrading from an earlier version of NPE which worked fine in the past. Reloaded without deleting prior download, but no change; tried safe mode, again no joy when opening downloaded file for install. And, yes, tightly secured n WiFi for just our office.
Just tried the Beta -- same error message.
Hi
Please can you download the NPE from the beta site again, let me know your observations.
Thanks
How did you correct this problem? I got the same error message "NPE.exe is not a valid win32 application"
I would appreciate your help in resolving this.
Download NPE again and then right click on the file and select "Properties".
Click the tab that says Digital Signatures, then click once on Symantec to make the detail button active.
Click the detail button and it should bring up the next screen
It should say "Digital Signature is OK".
If it does not, than you somehow got an incomplete download, try another browser and do not use any kind of download manager if possible.
If it says the signature is OK and you still get the error than chances are you are either infected or something has made changes to windows that prevent executable files from running.
Best of luck,
Dave
