Norton premium shows a red x on its icon in taskbar . stalls and takes 2 min to reset

Norton has the familiar orange circle with a tick mark.

My icon always has a red X and freezes - no response when you click application

Then it reboots itself 

Back to little red x

Software is broken.

Tried reinstalling after the Power erase tool

same result . software does not work

Verify your system clock date, time and time zone are correct.

Can you right click Norton tray icon and see menu? 
Can you Run LiveUpdate from tray icon menu?
Can you Run QuickScan from tray icon menu? 

Does main Norton window open?
Does main Norton window report You Are At Risk | Fix Now? 

Have you run Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool > Remove Only with fresh install from your Norton account. 

Confirm your Norton is retail Norton or Comcast/ISP Norton?
