I've been using Norton for a number of years and have just renewed my annual subcription and updated Norton Internet Security. Since the upgrade I have been unable to send emails to mutiple recipients. I volunteer for a charitable organisation and we hold monthly events. I have two mailing lists, one with approx 350 recipients, the other with approx 200 both of which are set up as a Group in my email address book - before the upgrade I had no problem sending emails to these two groups.
The error message from Norton states:
552 5.2.0 pvcn1h00l20dHkx02vdEQT automated process detected unsolicited content.
It then provides the email details of who it was from (my email address), who it was to (my email address as I send the email to myself and bcc all the recipients - which is what I've always done to protect privacy), subject - i.e., title of my email
And then there's an OK button - which when I press prevents the email from sending, although it does show as having been sent in my Sent folder.
I have turned off Outgoing scanning but I still get an error message which states:
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.2.0 qYP31h01C20dHkx02YP5WG automated process detected unsolicited content. Please check the message and try again.
And then there's the OK button again with the same outcome as above.
I have checked with my broadband supplier - UPC - who assure me that it has nothing to do with them.
I am using Mozilla Thunderbird on Windows XP.
As I was having so many problems, I set up a Gmail account, using the same laptop in the same location, i.e., using UPC broadband, and was able to send my email from there without any problems. So my guess is that Norton thinks that I'm spamming via Thunderbird and has somehow blocked that email address. I can, however, send individual emails. I have not yet tested to see how many recipients I can send to at a time without Norton blocking it.
I'd be really grateful if someone could help!!!!
Many thanks
