Norton Products and their Version Numbers

Hi all:

This is from Vineeth ...

No mention of earlier products.

Norton products and their version numbers:

NIS 2007 -- 10.x.x.x

NAV 2007 -- 14.x.x.x

NIS & NAV 2008 -- 15.x.x.x

NIS & NAV 2009 -- 16.x.x.x

NIS & NAV 2010 -- 17.x.x.x

Why do we use a version number?

Till 2007 version, the main UI of Norton products displayed the version number. For eg: if you open NIS or NAV 2006, on the bottom right corner, you can see Norton AntiVirus 2006 or Norton Internet Security 2006. And it is the same for earlier versions. So we do not need numbers like x.x.x.x to identify the product.

From 2007 version onwards, Symantec stopped displaying the version number on the main UI. Instead use the version number in the form x.x.x.x. For 2007 version, Symantec used separate version number for NAV and NIS. ie: 10.x for NIS and 14.x for NAV. And from 2008 version onwards, Symantec started using same version number for NIS and NAV. For eg: 17.x.x.x for NIS and NAV 2010.

Now if this is to test my knowledge, I am really sorry, I do not know anything more than this... :smileysad:

And if this is to learn more, NAV 2006 is 12.x and NIS 2006 is 9.x
