Good day...
I saw this Log Viewer in this Topic and I was wondering...where is this Log Viewer thingy.
Do I have a Norton Log Viewer ?
I'm aware of M$ Event Viewer...but, a Symantec Log Viewer ?
Thnx

Hi bjm_
The Symantec Log Viewer, previously called ccLgView.exe was discontinued and replaced by MCUI32.exe which is included with NIS and what is used when you pull up historical events.
The following thread shows some command line options which can be used with this:
The OP in the thread you linked to was running something really old which apparently still had this older program. As a matter of fact that program actually still exists in my shared folder but no longer works if you try to run it.
Best wishes.

Hello AllenM
Well, now I have something new to play with...via command line (not something I frequent but, will if I have to)
I would trade NIS Optimizer and monthly reports for the Log Viewer thingy non command line user friendly pretty presentation.
The command line syntax/switches from 09 apply to NIS10 / 11 etc. ?

Would be nice to be able to export direct from History to txt.
Is it possible to view MCF in readable txt from export History.
Or, is that just to save backup for import to History.
Thnx
bjm_
Hi bjm
you can export as text from NIS. There us a drop down choice from the history viewer.

I'm aware of the + to copy contents to clipbd from File Insight...when more details pops File Insight....
Where do I find as you suggest the drop down choice from the history viewer.
Looking now at Recent History / Recent History > More Details ....ummm ... all I see is Export / Import.
(I've tried Export only to find MCF file....and do not know what app will open MCF as readable text)
I do not see this drop down choice...sorry, must be right in front of me..just not seeing drop down
...sorry
Maybe 2011 BETA ?
Which would be nice.... ?
Thnx
Hi Bjm_
From the History window, click on Export near the bottom right. Then you will see the following Save As window come up. From there the default choice for saving the file is .mcf. When you click on that box (depicted in the image) you will see .txt as a choice.
Best wishes.

Hi AllenM'
Sure, it's easy with pictures...geez even I can follow a picture ...
It's those darn words that I have trouble deciphering.
I'll go stand in the corner now...
I must have slept through that lesson
Cool
But, I see when I try to Import only mcf will work...
Thnx
Hi Bjm_
Yes for import, only mcf files because you are actually importing the file back into the program and the program can only use a binary file.
Best wishes.
