I've read several posts about this minor problem, but none seem to apply quite to what's happening on my desktop. It's a minor thing, but a little annoying at times. I've got NIS installed on both an Intel MacBook Pro, where it's running as it should, and on an Intel desktop Mac, where it was giving me some updating problems that seem to have eventually resolved themselves without my doing anything, but the QuickMenu icon is still missing in action.
When I go to the QuickMenu preference pane in the system preferences on the desktop computer, the QuickMenu is enabled, but none of the four NIS programs are listed in the pane and so, of course, I am unable to enable them. Very odd. And I have no idea how to get them to appear in the pane.
If it helps, I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8 on the desktop.
Thanks in advance for any clues.
