Norton Relentless Spam

Is there no way to opt out PERMANENTLY from the relentless spamming on Norton? I used it for years in the past then found a better soution. Unfortunately, that company has raised prices so much it is not feasible. I have tried TotalAV and a BUNCH of others - and they are just as bad in different ways. I understand the complexity of security software but Norton ALREADY HAS MY BUSINESS and they are treating me TERRIBLY by their intrusive advertising. No - the "solutions" offered on other threads do not work!! They simply stop the process for a short time and then it starts back up with every new rollout. I really have come to hate this software company. I'm thinking of just going back to Windows Defender and Malware Bytes Premium. Neither of those slow my machine to a crawl and interrupt me constantly. I don't even use most of the software Norton makes part of my bundle because it is so invasive. Last time I left, it took me a LONG time to simply get all of Norton cleaned out (BTW Revo Uninstaller is fantastic for cleaning out Norton bits and pieces). Sorry for the rant. I'm just sick and tired of spending my time and money just trying to get a simple product that will do the job without being so darned intrusive and invasive.

Thank you for your response I had tried a couple of those but decided to drop Norton this afternoon. Just tired of the hassle. I had two pop ups that came up constantly with their last release. And the relentless pop ups trying to upsell me. Thanks again!

It doesn’t spin off multiple processes like Norton does. At any rate, I dumped Norton today. Immediate improvement in my machine’s processes. Glad you have a different experience. Thanks for responding.

No.

Correct.

I've been trying to tell Norton / Symantec / Gen Digital for years to stop.  It still falls on deaf ears, but I found using these settings does help a lot.

I agree. I am so disappointed and frustrated with their whole model. I am seriously thinking Windows Defender and Malware bytes may be the best way to go. Total AV loaded all sorts of spam ware on my machine including a persistent Trojan. Ugh. I have tried so many programs. Norton is following a similar support style as all the others - which is zero support other than forums and written documentation. Well. Nothing more to be said. Sorry to hear you are facing similar issues.

I made the mistake of switching from another leading company to Norton, but I also hate the relentless spam. I reset my laptop a couple of days ago, deleting everything and installing Windows 11 from scratch.

Today Norton claimed to have found 17,540 performance issues, 215 corrupted registries (I thought windows had only 1 registry file?) and 7 apps that slow you down.

I followed the "resolve button" out of curiosity and no surprise the solution costs another £32.12.

Perhaps Norton is right, but I don't believe it. The problem with this kind of marketing technique is that you are less likely to believe Norton when there is a real problem.

i dont get the messages ( spam or offers ) often

sometimes get a breach notice or something

in administrative settings about half way down theres a special offer setting turn that off

I don't disagree with you...except Norton does not take alot of resources these days. When i tried MWB. It takes 5-6 times more of my system resources compared to Norton.
