I have a subscription of Norton 360 deluxe that ends end of February. Now - instead of renew via built-in workflow - I bought an Amazon bundle and tried to activate this one.
I supposed the subscription to be smart enough to extend the current product but instead I now have two subscriptions. One that still ends end of February and the same product again that starts today without any associated devices. That is really stupid. Any ideas how to fix that one?
Norton does not automatically merge new retail keys with existing subscriptions; instead, it treats them as two separate licenses.
Norton typically treats new retail keys as separate licenses rather than automatic extensions.
To consolidate them and avoid losing your remaining time.
Request a Subscription Merge:Contact Norton Support. A support agent can manually add the days from your new Amazon key to your existing subscription term. This is the way to “bridge” the two without losing the days you’ve already paid for.
Use the “agent” shortcut:When using Norton Chat, type “agent” repeatedly into the chat box to bypass the automated bot and connect with a human representative.
Disable Auto-Renewal:Ensure you cancel the automatic renewal on your original subscription to prevent Norton from charging your card for another full year while you have this new Amazon license.
Note: Amazon subscription time likely started counting down the day you bought or activated it.
You can contact Norton Support and ask them to add the time from your new subscription to the older subscription. That way there is no change to the product key and all devices activated with that key should just continue to work until the new expiry date.
It is not so much about the days that I might loose. I am wondering why it do not automatically extend the existing subscription. I don’t see any reason for an individual to have two parallel subscriptions. Anyway I will follow your instructions. Many thanks.
It does not automatically extend an existing subscription because the system has no way of knowing if a second separate subscription is needed by the customer. I need and have multiple subscriptions to cover the number of devices I manage.
If you are providing feedback, maybe you could suggest that the purchase activation process asks if you already have a subscription. Especially for third party seller like Staples and Amazon.
