I love the idea of safe web, to help keep us away from sites that have all kinds of nasty stuff, from getting to our computers. Though I have to say on numerous occasions I have found that it will have the green check mark when I go to a site, and then when I click on the green check mark to go to Symantecs page where it breaks everything down, I find out that the Norton Community has rated the site as possibly not being safe.
So, I would like to recommend another check mark that would give us the people average people rating. I find that the people who rate the pages, have great information, that I should also consider about the site.
For example, I went to a known antivirus vender, who was know in the past as using scareware to get people to pay to remove the items that the scan found. Back a few years ago everyone considered this program to be malware. They have since supposidly cleaned up there act, and are not longer considered to be malware anymore.
Norton gave this site a green check. When I went to click on the green checkmark, it turned out that a few people marked it as possibly bad, because of what happened a few years ago. I want to know about that kind of stuff. I don't want to be doing business with a company that used to rip people off. Even if they have changed, I don't want to do business with them. How can we trust a company like that.
Some people may still want to use that program, and that is there choice, but I think being able to have all the users input is vital on the saftey of the website.
