Occasionally, I see the Norton Safe Web icon in my browser bar, turn anything but green. Normally, if I spot the non-green icon, I exit the site immediately.
When I enter the URL in Norton Safe Web, it informs me of the number of threats and if I click on the links, the nature of the threats.
My query is that, if I, inadvertently, proceed to navigate around one of these sites, because I've missed the non-green icon, am I protected, due to the threats being included on the Norton Safe Web database. Are these type of threats included in the anti-intrusion / antiphishing downloads of N360, etc ?
Any info, cheers. AK
Hi AK,
You are still protected even if you launch the site that contains threats and you will get the appropriate warning.
When you search in search engines, you will get safeweb icons which inform about site safety. If you reach sites that contain threats, you are still protected as Site safety icon in norton toolbar informs you about the threats. Threats handling by Safeweb differs based on the nature of threats ie,1. If you navigate to a phishing site (that steals personal information), its blocked and Symantec blocked page is displayed with options to continue and exit the page 2.If you open a malicious site (malicous downloads), site safety pop-up displayed with warning in toolbar 3. If the site contains some exploiting vulnerabilites, it's again blocked (Intrusion Prevention) with the options to continue or exit. If it contains more intrusion threats, the browser will be closed by Norton. These are included in anti-phishing and anti-intrusion updates of Norton 360.
If you don't get safeweb icons in Google in IE8, you may refer to the instructions mentioned in the above post.

Karthik
Thanks for the feedback, so far.
I deal with a couple of websites, that Norton Safe Web informs me are "Caution & Warning".
If the websites no longer contains the offending items, how do the websites owners get the warning lifted.
Being on NSW as a jeopardy must be costing them business.

In such cases as you mentioned, the website owners have the option to resubmit their website for evaluation:
