Norton Safe Web Site verification process failed

Hi,

I have followed the instructions by uploading the authentication .html file. I was also place the meta tag while it didn't help. Please check what's wrong on www.solidcam.si

Within the browser I saw the massage: 403 (Forbidden)

Otherwise I'm using Expression Web amd aspx files. The inserted html could not be opened.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. i used Microsoft Expression Web to construct the site.

The authentication .html file, along with the rest of the web site's files which include the index.html are located whithin a sub fulder. does this make a difference?

Thanks.

Chris

It very well may.

The root directory is the "upper most level" of your website before any folders. Are you certain that "index.html" is in a subfolder?

Are you able to upload the authentication html directly to the root directory?

PS: Nice looking site!

Hi,

I have registered two of my web sites (www.chrisiles.co.uk & www.llrs.co.uk) on https://safeweb.norton.com/ however I am having trouble continuing with the registration of these sites and can not find any help file to assist me.

I have followed the instructions to the letter, by uploading the authentication .html file, Correctly named up to my web space. I tested this via the link in the info e-mail sent by Symantec Safe Web and all is fine, the authentication file appears in my browser from my web space showing the authentication number ok.

However when I try to “verify site ownership”, I repeatedly get the following message “Site verification failed. Please copy the auth file to the root directory of your Web site.”

What have I done wrong

Thanks,

Chris Iles

Thank you for your your nice comment on my site.

what i have just done since replying to you is copy the autentication file to the uppermost level (a level up from the main site files) the Auth file is now actualy resides twice both outside and inside what i understand to be the root of the site. but alas, still no joy. my understanding of the root is where the main site files are, is my logic incorrect?

Once Again, Many Thanks

Chris

The actual root directory may have a slightly different designation depending upon your hosting site; however it is the upper most level.

I am going to send you a Private Message requesting some information about your site.  Please look for the pm-icon-notify.gif in the upper right corner of any forum board.

Thanks.
