I Finally just verified my site but had a hard time understanding why it would not verify, I tried putting in the meta tags, I tried the file in the root folder. Nothing would work.
What I discovered is that you have your website setup with a redirect for proper SEO the verification will not work. All of my requests coming in are redirected to www.atws.ca Norton Safe Web would only verify on atws.ca
No where is the documentation does it ask for you to verify only against the non-sub domain part of the domain, but it is unclear that this could be the issue. I would be willing to guess an large number of support requests are issued for the simple fact that the redirect is the problem, thus sending out a tech support person to go find the site and verify the site manually.
What bothers me is now that I have reverted my changes to the redirect will the verification fail the next time it is requested? Do I have to setup Rewrite rules to watch for Norton Safe Web robots and redirect them accordingly?
