Greetings,
When installing Norton Safety Minder on OS X 10.5.8, the installer stalls on the the Connet screen, and it does not allow me to enter a machine name or login credentials for the Onlinefamily site. The installer eventually quits giving me "an unexpectedly quit" error. I'm trying to set up version 1.10f51
Hello Alan,
I couldn't paste the crash log into a private message because it was too long. However, I did attach it to this reply. Also I don't have any other Norton or Symantec products installed.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the log. Give me a little time to digest it and I will post a new reply to you here today or tomorrow.

What you are experiencing is odd...we've never seen it before.
I'd like you to run the enclosed file (RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command) and then try the installer again. If it still doesn't work, I will send you a debug version of the installer to see if we can find some more info. (Rename the file to RemoveSymantecMacFiles.zip and then unzip it)
It appears to be crashing on an NSTask which is running the following command (you can try to run this command yourself in Terminal and see if it is successful or if that is what is crashing):
/usr/sbin/sysctl hw.model | /usr/bin/cut -f2 -d' ' | /usr/bin/xargs;/usr/sbin/sysctl hw.machine | /usr/bin/cut -f2 -d' ' | /usr/bin/xargs;/usr/sbin/sysctl kern.hostname | /usr/bin/cut -f2 -d' ' | /usr/bin/xargs
Alan,
I executed the command to remove all Symantec files and reinstalled Norton Saftey Minder. It crashed again in the same place. I'm attaching the error window and crash log.
Also I ran the command on the possible spot it was hanging. It ran successfully and I'm attaching that result as well. (Rename the attached file to NSMlogs.zip) Let me know what else you want me to try.
There's one thing that might be tripping the installer up is the computer is be managed by Work Group Manager. However, I'm installing under a administrator's account with all preference settings (boundaries and parameters) turned off.
Thanks in advance,
Grant
