The product worked until a few weeks back. I got the message that safety minder had turned off. My child was not here to have turned it off. I have reinstalled the product (newest version). I do not have the dog icon showing up in my tray. I did not see where the addins were listed either on the browser.
It normally takes a few minutes to show the online activity on the Web activity page. Please make sure you have the latest Norton Safety Minder 1.2.0.39 installed on the PC. You can find it by clicking on the NSM icon in the system tray and selecting About Norton Safety Minder.
Also, please try to uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder to see if it helps.
I would be more than happy to setup a remote desktop access and work together with you on this. You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details. You can find my email address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id=15038.
It is working properly. I thought that when a child was timed out or tired to log on outside of established times that an e-mail message would be sent to the parent but as I reread things (more carefully) that isn't the case. I did go to a blocked site and received an e-mail notification. Thanks for your fast. response. The problem is solved.
If they remove or disable Norton Safety Minder, you will receive an email notification and you will see no activity on the Activiy page anymore.
To avoid this from happening, please only give non-administrative rights (Limited or Restricted) to your children's Windows accounts. If they have administrative rights, they would have the option to create a new Windows account and log onto the PC as the new user, which is not being monitored.
Please give us some details on the "logout issue when time is expired", so when we check the status of the issue, we can come back with an accurate update.
It was set to green. I uninstalled/reinstalled the product again. I did notice the service did not start.
i got this error in the event log. It sounds like there could be a dll in conflict. Unsure what it would be.
The Norton Online service failed to start due to the following error: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
I use Norton Internet Security (latest version). I did in the past month get the computer patched up to Windows Vista sp2 with all the patches. I had problems with the PC and it took some time to get it patched. This could of been around the time it had issues, but I am unsure.

1. If you don't assoicate your two ADMIN accounts with any profiles on the Norton OnlineFamily website, they are not being monitored. Please check out the links below on the subject.
Please re-read my post again. I do understand about not associating ADMIN accounts with the website and can confirm they are not now nor have they even been associated. Moreover, I know the two ADMIN accounts are not monoitored. My post wasn't about that.
My problem is with Norton itself, as Safety Minder installed an Add-in for IE9 for my two ADMIN accounts and that add-in runs every time I start Internet Explorer. Additionally, Safety Minder installed something in the Windows 7 start-up process which makes Safety Minder load when the OS starts. Both of those processes drain system resources and I don't understand why they are needed for ADMIN accounts. Why does Norton load anything at all for ADMIN accounts? What's the purpose for loadng files for accounts that aren't monitored? Why does Norton even install Safety Minder in ADMIN accounts, as it serves no purpose other than to drain system resources?
So, again, what can I do to strip out the start up files for Safety Minder for my ADMIN accounts? Those two links you attached to your reply are not applicable for my questions.
I have been dealing with Symantec ever since the days when it first aquired Norton many, many years ago and spread its collective fingers into Norton Utilities. I have been perplexed, ever since, as to the reason why it is so incredibly difficult to get a straight answer from Symantec. I feel certain many users do get straight answers, but I have never felt the warm, fuzzy feelings of being one of them. Call me lucky. . .
Katie denied my observations and treated them as though I was just another uninformed user and threw some irrelevant links at me. On the other hand, you confirmed my claims but downplayed their impact as being insignificant. So, which is it?
Loading Safety Minder in non-monitored accounts, like ADMIN, does indeed negatively affect sytem performance in Windows 7. It bogs down IE9 with an unnecessary add-in every time it launches and drains OS resources for tracking and maintaining files it loads in Windows at start-up. Its on-line framework has stopped working several times, despite claims its not even loaded in ADMIN accounts. Oh well. . .
So, back to my intial questions: what can be done to strip Safety Minder files from starting in the OS and IE9 for my ADMIN accounts and, please note, specifics count :-)
