I just have installed Norton Safety Minder (2.0.0.48) on my XP SP3 (5.1.2600). This machine is my own laptop and I want to test NSM before deploying it on my children laptops.
NSM is enabled and successfully reported alerts for time limits. Even if NSM reports to be enabled I was able to browse adult sites (www.playboy.com and www.penthouse.com) with both IE (7.0.5730.13) and Firefox (3.6.8), despite the fact I have blocked their access in the settings of my test user account.
However I have an alert:
Norton Safety Minder's web browser monitoring component is either disconnected or disabled. Please restart the web browser or restart your computer.
I've restarted Firefox, then I rebooted the laptop but no change, I was still able to browse adult sites.
Again, this is a test made on my laptop before deploying NSM to my children laptops. There were no attempts to stop NSM or so, as my children are not yet aware about the future installation of NSM.
Could you help me in enabling the web monitoring, please?
