Norton Scan - File Removed - How to restore?

Having recently installed Norton 360 5.1 has caused more problems than it solved. First, it appears to have a high incidence of false positives. Second, it appears to have removed a number of these files without warning. Normally this wouldn't be a huge issue except that the files were located on my backup drive!

How can I recover this file? It has an option to send the file to Symantec so the data has to be somewhere. The file itself is an application I wrote to process video for my wife's thesis so it's not like I can just download another copy.

I have looked closely for such an option. Unless for some reason my install has been set to computer-retard mode it doesn't seem to allow much.

Try to login to windows as an admin user.

Does this help?

The user account is part of the administrator's group.

My pictures are from NIS 2012 but Norton 360 should be the same.

Can you access / change all N360 settings with this account?

Yes I can access and change all settings with this account. I have also tried right clicking and running as administrator but there are no differences.

Hi,

seems that I can't help you.

If someone else has an idea, please post it here. :smileyhappy:

Anyway it would be fine, if you could test downloading eicar virus test files:

http://eicar.org/85-0-Download.html

Does N360 quarantine these files and can you restore it?

The option to exclude or restore is not available for all the threats. This is as mentioned here:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Cannot-Ignore-Exclude-certain-items/m-p/66871/highlight/true#M9013

Thanks,
