Norton scans freezing

I have not been able to run scan for some time now. I use the Comcast security suit. When I try to run a quick or full scan it freezes immediately. Clicking on any of the plus buttons does nothing. Once I exit out of the program when I get the windows error message I am not able to reopen Norton and have to restart my computer to do anything Norton related.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have used. I have followed all the steps from this post: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Norton-360-freezes-during-manual-full-scan/td-p/921563 including turning off compressed files.

I used 'Resource Monitor' Norton was frozen and when I clicked on it the animalize wait chain was blank.

I have used Norton Power Eraser and Norton Removal tool. Neither of these fixed the problem when reinstalling.

When trying to go into the history to see results of past scans Norton froze. I while later I got a Norton Error message and when checking from problem it could not find a solution and said this:

Norton Security Suite

20.2.0.19

Error: 8504, 104

Windows 7 Home Premium

7601.18113.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533

Norton Autofix Results: 0 item(s)

This has never happened during the scans, just once when trying to look through the history.

I have also followed all the steps here: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v62545568_EndUserProfile_en_us

I contact Comcast for it and they said they only provide the download nothing else then ended chat after about 10 seconds.

I have now downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned but it detected nothing. I still can not use Norton without it freezing and having to restart to even bring it back up.

Hi ,

Did you try updating the display drivers ?? Try this and let me know if this worked.

Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc ->display adapters -> right click on it and then click on update driver software.

Restart your computer once this is done and then try running a scan.

Thanks and regards,

Okay, I had to update and restart it twice because it didn't even say "update driver software", but something close. The second time I updated it it said exactly that and when i restarted Norton finially worked. Thanks.
