Anyone ?

Hello Dave

Thanks for the information. I guess I never noticed it before, but I did see it on naja's screenshot. I see it's been around for quite a while.. Memory isn't like it used to be either, so perhaps I've forgotten it also.

Thanks.

Submission Control Data (SCD) instructs the client on what Norton Community Watch data (NCW) should be submitted, where it should be submitted, and how much of it should be submitted to the backend systems.

We typically modify the SCD to control the load on the backend NCW submission infrastructure.

It isn't a common update, Flo, but it isn't new.

Hello Dave

I've never seen or received that update. I have NCW turned on also. There is plenty in the log. Every full scan shows things exonerated, so Norton must receive them.

Thanks.

Hi Flo,

No, that one is not new.  If I remember correctly, it controls what data Norton Community Watch collects.

Hello

I don't remember ever seeing Submission Control Data before either. Is that something new?

Thanks.

Hello!

I know this Feature( LINK), but the images are represented there somewhat scaled down as in a PDF file.

Original: Diese Funktion kenne ich, aber die Bilder werden dort etwas verkleinert dargestellt als in einer pdf- Datei.

Hi GERT,

Same here, although I never opened your ZIP files.  It kind of goes against my policy of not opening zipped files posted on forums.

Thanks.

Okay- pdf- Files

There really is no point in speculating.  We won't know more until the powers that be explain it to us, and that may not happen over night.  I'm still waiting to here about this  -  https://community.norton.com/en/comment/6968061#comment-6968061

Hello

I had a SDS Definitions, no quick scans update last night and so far today, have had 2 Antivirus updates with quick scans. Let's remember also, this SDS first arrived in the 22.7 BETA, so anything can change still. It's still in the testing phase I would say.  This is my opinion which might be right or wrong. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong then. We do have to wait for the official Announcement to see what it is really all about. This is all speculation at this point I would say unless Symantec is copying Microsoft and what it has done with Win. 10 and how it has been deployed.

Thanks.

Thanks, bjm_.

The new scan engine is called  "Static Data Scanner" .
Other than it being a different way of scanning things, at this stage I have no other info.

I've had an SDS Definitions update which did not initiate a Quick Scan, so I doubt SDS Def's replace Virus Def's.

Hello

SDS === Sudden Death Syndrome if you have young babies. Back to Norton

Is this going to scan the data in our computers that have not changed rather than the old scanner which searched for data that did change??

Thanks

Thanks, shenda !  yes

Hello

I received 3 Antivirus definition updates today. About 2 hours ago, I see that I have received around 1.9 MB SDS definitions. It did have the X64 after it like the regular Antivirus Definitions. I guess I will have to wait till Sat.to see if I receive any regular Antivirus definitions. Tony has now made a post in the appropriate thread about that driver. It's odd because it's being released in a phased in manner. I can't find a download for it, but I know I saw it in NCW, so I think I must have received it..

If we are going to receive this SDS everyday, shouldn't there be a topic for it in the History Logs?

Thanks.
