This update seems a bit half cooked. I'm not sure why Norton is rushing updates lately. This update didn't really add anything urgent as far as I know.
What doesn't make sense is the desktop shortcut icon image has changed along with the taskbar placeholder. But the system tray icon is still the same (old). Also I've probably mentioned this before but the main GUI is different from e.g. LiveUpdate window, Quick Scan and so on. Why not make all of the windows match with the same colour scheme.
No the problem has not been fixed. There is a larger thread on the forum that is addressing these problems. It is under community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-internet-security-norton-360-norton-antivirus/
"automatic-background-tasks-not-working"
I encourage you to post there as Norton is monitoring that thread. The more people with these issues that post there, the more attention it will get with Norton.
I have also had problems getting liveupdate and quick scans to work automatically. They will work manually but very erratic in auto. I see that many people are having trouble too. This all started with the new version (22.17.0.183). Has some one solved this and I am just missing the solution? I am new to using this community forum and not able to navigate it well.
My issues began a week after I got the 22.17 update, but with Windows Updates and Core new Firmware also on the 19th, it's hard for me to tell what is causing the issue. It's across all O/S's I've noticed. My son has been having the same issues although he doesn't see it as a problem. As long as a Green Checkmark on an old version of the Logo Icon, I have to admit something isn't Kosher here with all these issues unless they are doing a lot more in the cloud. The SDS definitions are coming down, so we are protected. Monthly scans are supposed to be OK, so maybe that is what is happening. Only about 4 Automatic Live Updates a day. This Update for Safe Web for Chrome only as in the Announcement on top could have a lot to do with it. Norton program is absorbing the costs if you read the FAQS for this new Banking thing. The testing for this new thing must have been going on around the same time. Coincidence?? Thanks for getting Norton's attention about us. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have any clue. Don't know if my messages got thru to anyone.
I have no idea what's going on but as I'm sure you can appreciate, Symantec have been informed of these threads. Currently on a Linux machine so can't check what's happening. I only have Norton installed on one machine theses days.
I received SDS Def's yesterday after manually running Live Update but there was no quick scan. Starting that machine this morning I left it idle for 1 & 1/2 hours and checked, it automatically downloaded 6 updates including another SDS Def's set but still no scan. I went into town and came back and after about another hour idle an auto quick scan did eventually run. Something's wrong with this build, me thinks.
My Weekly Full System Scan was scheduled to run Monday at 3:30 AM. It never ran. I have noticed that now I get 1 quick virus scan in the early morning hours on the even dates of the month since the 19th of March.. I have been getting 3 times a day my SDS definitions but only 1 scan every other day. About 4 Automatic Live Updates.in 24 hours. I just looked at Norton Security in All Programs and saw that it mentions Live Update. It never listed Live Update like that before, not in a good many years. It's not listed in Programs and Features in my Win 7 Pro 64 bits. I know enough to check if I still have the Live Update listed like it used to be a separate component of the Security program. Have they gone back to that system again I wonder?
I'm 72, quite often do silly thing like getting up to do something and then forgetting why you got up or fill kettle for coffee, comeback to make then realise water still cold when making, forgot to turn on kettle.
I'm not even close to 72, and I do stuff like that.. I hope it's just casual absentmindedness rather than an indicator of something larger, darker, and nefarious.

Should be Main GUI (on opening Norton), HELP. Then General Information on right, 'About'. Think I would be embarrassed to have my name in Credits List. Info in same place as before.
I am confused; where is the version number lately. I surfed through the menus to find the version and can't seem to find it. It was always easy to find in the past.
For some reason, yes, Norton & Windows updates released same dates as with last release. It appears we are not all on same Windows version, it's got to be a NORTON issue, no doubt TESTING was done on all platforms. Mind you all the issues with Norton lately do they Test ??
Problems continuing for me since 3/19. I posted extensive post on the other thread regarding automatic tasks not running but don't know how to post that post on this thread. Maybe someone could combine all the posts into one thread? My tasks are not running automatically and my computer is on majority of the day, more than enough time to run at idle but it's not happening. I too have noticed that Norton releases product updates same day Windows Cumulative updates are released. It's bad enough that Windows updates contain bugs but its compounded when Norton releases buggy updates on same day. I hope Sunil (Norton) will weigh in on this soon. I'm running Windows 10 v 1809.
I see I am not the only one having these issues. My issues started on March 19 or that is when I became aware of them. Since March 19 thru March 23, I have had a total of 5 quick scans and 2 of those I ran manually. I have been getting the SDS definitions as they should be. On the 21 and 23 I had no scans.. My computer is on 24/7, so there is plenty of time for it to be idle especially since my idle time is down to 1 minute.Automatic Live Updates run very infrequently also. There are updates available, but they are not getting delivered very often. When I have run them manually, I have been getting 5 or 7 updates at a time. I never got that many at once unless we had a blackout or loss of internet for an extended time limit. The automatic things just have not been running correctly. I have not had more than 1 quick scan a day unless I did a manual one.
I am not sure if it's the new version. The new version came out on March 11 and I got mine on the first day it came out. The first week I think things were okay. It was a week later that things got so bad that I noticed them. I don't know why new versions have to be released on or about the same day as Windows updates. I know this has been happening for many years. Are these actually issues or is this by design?
It's not a localized thing since I know that Krusty and I are on opposite sides of the world. It's not an intermittent thing because it's been happening so frequently. When there are so many different parts of Norton not working correctly, it does get a little unnerving. At least I see that I am not the only one.
Sunil, are you aware there are glitches with latest release of 22.17? See latest posts regarding tasks not running automatically. This even after Norton did remote uninstall and reinstall session. Not happy with this latest release. All was working ok until this release.
I too have had Norton Support do complete uninstall and reinstall few days ago but some tasks still don't seem to run automatically. Live Update runs automatically sporadically and so far since upgrade 22.17 Quick Scan is not running automatically. When Support did uninstall, they went through and removed every old Norton file so system was like completely free of Norton files when reinstall was done. So I believe there are glitches in this update and we can't be the only ones experiencing these same issues. Maybe more users need to check their Norton tasks. Not sure what to do but as expensive as Norton is it should run like intended. Makes me wonder who tested this release.
Had something like this before. Then it also stopped Norton Insight actually running automatically. I have the instance where Maintenance is working but Insight itself not auto running. Also have issues with various background tasks, Live Update, Quick scan etc. only working spasmodically. Norton Support unable to solve. All went wrong a few days after upgrading to 22.17, up to then all was OK. Norton been reinstalled then a full remove & reinstall, still made no difference, both these by Norton Support.
Hello, ever since update to 22.17.0.183 Insight Maintenance has failed to run. Update applied 3/18 from Live Updates. All other tasks update except this task. Have Norton Security with Back Up. Anyone else reporting this issue?
