We are pleased to announce that a Macintosh El Capitan (OSX10.11) compatibility update is now available for Norton Security 6.4, Norton Internet Security 5.8 and Norton AntiVirus 12.8. This update is available via LiveUpdate. To download it, simply run LiveUpdate. This update is available for all languages. A reboot is required to apply the patch.
Note: Apple has not yet released Macintosh El Capitan (OSX10.11) officially.
To verify you have received the new update, from the Norton Security product, from the Menu, click Norton Security -> About Norton Security.
The client update is already available for all our products. There is no action needed on your side. Clients will be automatically updated but will require that you restart your machine. We highly recommend that you restart your machine so updates take effect and you stay protected. If you are a new user and would like to try Norton Security, you can download it from http://www.norton.com/setup. Product update released today updates the following Norton product lines:
- NS 6.3: your client is automatically updated to NS 6.4 so NO action is required on your end. Product notification will ask you to restart your machine so we recommend you restart your machine right away to stay protected.
- NIS 5.7: your client is automatically updated to NIS 5.8 so NO action is required on your end. Product notification will ask you to restart your machine so we recommend you restart your machine right away to stay protected.
- NAV 12.7: your client is automatically updated to NAV 12.8 so NO action is required on your end. Product notification will ask you to restart your machine so we recommend you restart your machine right away to stay protected.
IMPORTANT NOTE
For users who have already upgraded to OS X 10.11 we have discovered an issue with Internet connectivity due to an issue in the current OS X Norton Security client 6.3. This is a known issue and tracked in forum issue (https://community.norton.com/en/comment/6652181#comment-6652181). If you are affected by this, then you will need to take the following steps now the 6.4 patch updater has been released:
- Open Norton Security (6.3) => Advanced => Firewall => Connection Blocking => Turn OFF.
- Reboot the computer.
Run LiveUpdate as to fetch the latest product.
