When I load a web page in Chrome, Norton Security starts up and hogs about 30-35% of the CPU for several seconds which freezes my system until NS's CPU demands subside. It appears this is related to the amount of ad content, the more the ad complexity or volume the longer Norton Security goes on a CPU binge.
This is unacceptable behavior and I will have to either drop my Chrome use or switch to another company's protection software. FWIW, this does not happen when I use Microsoft Edge browser. Yes, I have a temporary workaround using Edge, but I am a Chrome user and expect this problem to be fixed as soon as possible.
I contact support and after doing a lot of stuff on my machine they basically said too bad, we can't help. I asked if they would escalate to the developers and they said they could not do this because they were not sure what was causing the problem.
C'mon Norton, get your act together. Is this a serious supported product or is a big time sink? I have wasted a lot of time trying to diagnose and work with your staff and now I cannot use my default browser.
