As the title suggests, I am now seeing the Norton icon in my notifications windows on Android 4.3 on both my devices (Galaxy Nexus & Nexus 10). It says "Norton Mobile Security is running - Touch for more information or to stop the a..." Touching it brings up the app info in settings where you can force stop, uninstall, clear data and clear cache. Why is this happening and how do I stop it? I don't want to see a notification unless there is a neede to act on it.
Thanks,
Pat
Edit: I see someone else has posted this in their Play Store review. Seems to be related to 4.3 upgrade of Android.
I have the same problem too. Norton mobile security icon is stuck in the notification bar. It is irritating. I know it is probably not a priority for Symantec to fix it, as only a handful of devices are running Android v4.3 at the moment, but I am sure fixing this will not require a lot of tinkering with the code and probably can be done fairly quickly. Please fix it as it is driving me nuts.
As this was not major issue, the decision was made to have the fix included in the next major update which will also include other fixes and enhancements. The next major update for Android should be coming very soon now, however, I do not have an official date that I can share at this time.
Gentlemen, you had it fixed for about 3 days. Then, the next update broke it and yesterday's update also did not fix it. What gives? You may not consider it a major issue but many of us consider it quite an annoyance, especially after paying $30 for the full version of the app.
Sorry for the inconvenience. As an update, the fix caused an unforeseen issue and had to be reverted. This should hopefully be fixed for good in the next upcoming release.
