Norton Security Potential Threat Messages

I keep getting Potential Threat messages from Norton Security regarding MacKeeper on my iMac (A potential threat was detected at /private/var/root/.Trash/MacKeeper.app/Contents/Plugins/LeftoversCleaner.plugin/Contents/MacOS/LeftoversCleaner!

Would you like to delete it?)

I get tons of these and at one point I was deleting them all and then all of a sudden my iMac wouldn't boot up and I had to do a complete restore to before I delete them and now I'm afraid to delete them.  Is MacKeeper not a good thing to have on my iMac?  How do I stop this from happening?  The messages are all different and referencing different files but the commonality in all of them is MacKeeper somewhere in the string.

Hello terry. The program "LeftoversCleaner" is a valid program downloadable from the iTunes store. Although it may be PUP I would suggest you download and run Malwarebytes to see if it detects malicious activity.
