Norton Security Premium - Mac Constant Crash _ I was duped

Purchased Norton Security Premium from Amazon...left feedback with One Star and applicable comment.

Installed on Mac Book Pro (mid 2012) i7, 16GMem, 1TB SSD, El Capitan (v 10.11.5). Downloaded from Norton Site three days ago so I assume I have the latest version.

Keeps crashing or loads then will require Fix.  Did work for a day and was able to scan with zero virus found.

Machine unprotected and will have uninstall and use a free anitvirus.   Sorry I trusted this POS.

same here.

I am having a very similar problem. My Mac (10.11.5) is continually re-booting with Norton (5.1 (11) being fingered as the cause in the panic report. This constant re-booting is causing havoc with my VM machines as well as my server (iMac Mini w Server).

After regular, almost daily, system crashes where the crash report indicated the cause was always Symantec security software, I completely removed this bloatware from my Mac Book Pro, El Capitan 10.11.5.

No; I don't want to reinstall the latest version because I simply don't trust Symantec anymore. It's too busy hunting for enterprise whales instead of focusing on retail customers.

I switched to a different anti-virus software and am relying on the internal Mac firewall, as well as my firewall appliance.

I will never install any of Symantec software on my Mac even if they paid me the annual subscription fee to do so.

Dear @chsanch,

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Request you to re-install the latest version of product (7.1). If you are not sure if its the latest product, please download the latest Norton Security product from www.norton.com/latestnsmac.

If the problem is seen again, I am ready to help you out directly or thro' support. In case of issues, please follow the steps below and share it with me.

  1. Download the tool from here:ftp://ftp.symantec.com/misc/tools/mactools/GatherSymantecInfo.zip
  2. After download, with the file on the Mac client where you are facing these issues, double-click on the file to expand it. It will contain the GatherSymantecInfo.command file as well as a folder called SupportFiles.
  3. Double-click on GatherSymantecInfo.command. It will open a Terminal window.
  4. Enter your administrator password (it will not echo on-screen) and press Enter.
  5. Gathering information... message will appear.
  6. When it completes to run, you can find SymantecInfo.zip archive under Desktop directory.

Please send out an email id to rajesh_sankaran@symantec.com with the collected logs and I will connect with you ASAP.

Thanks
