Norton Security Premium, Mac OSX 10.15 and fan overclocking

I have a 2018 13 inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, running OSX 10.15.1 and Norton Security Premium. Due to fan issues - my laptop is fine if Norton is not installed but noisy with the fan overclocking when Norton runs. It is driving me crazy. I have tried today to uninstall and reinstall Norton with varying degrees of success but the fan problem is back. Not just that, when I reboot the laptop, Norton asks to install a kernel extension which requires a privacy approval that I am happy to provide except there is never a message in the privacy/security preferences to allow the kernel permission. When I uninstall Norton, the fan is quiet and operates as expected (not noisy) but with Norton, it is very, very annoying. I have checked my laptop for any other potential issues and so far there are none. My husband's 2019 MacBook Pro experiences similar fan issues. When will the problems with Catalina be fixed?

I have chosen not to contact your customer support but to await feedback to this note and the fixes that are needed to Norton. I have an alternate protection system and am considering uninstalling this product until you can fix it properly and looking for a refund for the coverage that is not being provided. I need my laptop for a PhD that is nearing completion and this noise is exceptionally distracting.

I experience the same problem. In fact I have asked for support twice and they helped me to grant full disk access to all norton related extensions, namely 2x "com.symantec.SymlUHelper"s, "Norton System Extension" and "Norton". Also, accessibility is given to "AEServer" and "bash", and "Bash" is allowed to record my screen. Furthermore, firewall is turned on. However, the error message still pops up after a few restarts.

I would really appreciate your assistance. Thanks!

Hey thanks for that!

Hello. This is in the wrong forum board, I will ask for it to be moved to the Norton for MAC board as there are multiple threads there with this same issue.

Cheers
