Hello.
I am not very knowledgeable at all in the world of virus/malware protection and products and need some straight talk I can understand please to make a decision.
I've used Norton for over a decade with no issues.
Ignorantly, I let Norton lapse last year and thought I was AOK because I rarely surfed and thought since I did not visit "bad" websites, I was ok.
Got hit with Cryptowall 3.0 in January and that was a nightmare to resolve.
Upgraded and updated to Norton Security and also added Malwarebytes and Spy Hunter.
All 3 worked well together and I noticed that each program caught and fixed different things and was content that I am protected well.
Fast forward, time for a new computer and just went to Microcenter and got a custom build.
The salesman asked me about my current virus protection and when I told him, Norton, Malwarebytes and Spyhunter, he turned his nose up and stated that Norton is the McDonalds of the PC virus protection world, not very good and a system resource hog. He further stated that Malwarebytes and Sp;yhunter were ok, but that a program called Eset Smart Security (which they sell, surprise!) could replace all 3 and is better.
I told him I really liked Norton and the vault feature and he had no answer for that.
It was only $99 so I bought it but I have no idea if his information is even close to valid and would like guidance please.
Thanks in advance to any soul that read this far and is willing to opine.
Regards,
James
