Hi, I used the Comcast version of Norton Security Suite. I was using 4.2.0.12, I believe, and recently installed 4.3.0.5. Now I find the backup is not working as well as it had.
I have an "Include" rule for my Thunderbird profile so that all my settings and email folders are backed up. This was working well until I upgraded to 4.3.0.5. Now I find that the folder rules are ignored, and only explicit file rules work. I don't want to add a rule for every file in this tree.
I had the misfortune of discovering this today when Norton decided to delete (not quarantine) my Thunderbird Inbox (it was nice enough to quarantine the spam folder, so why not the Inbox??). No problem, I thought, I did a backup yesterday morning, and have 7 days of mail on my POP server. Wrong. The data I was able to restore was from a backup on 4/13, prior to my upgrade to 4.3.0.5.
Looking for a workaround, I tried to configure a new backup set with the explicit include of just that one profile folder and the "C" drive. The preview showed zero files.
Is this a known issue? Is there some patch for this? The last thing I expected was my properly configured backup to stop backing up files it had backed up before.
