Norton Security Suite (Idle Time Optimizer) Problem

I have disabled the (idle time optimizer) feature, however; there is still a lot of constant hard disk activity. I have no other security programs running in the background.

Yes, it is happening when my computer is idle, and sometimes while I am using it. How can I disable this?

Hi devilsnight228

If this is happening while you are using your PC then it is unlikely to be NSS that is causing the unusual disk activity. The best way to start to isolate the cause would be to use task manager to see what processes are running at the time you notice the hard disk activity.

On the main 360 page (Start-up page) or whatever you want to call it.  There is a "turn around arrow" in the lower right corner, (circled in red), as shown above, click on it and you should see something similar to the image below.

Moving the mouse across the lower graph,  will produce the red arrow (circled in black) and if you left click the red arrow it will display all the processes running at that point.  I believe that is a very little used tool and perhaps may be better than Task Manager for trying to track some info as it gives you a 90 minute span and provides a way to see back in time so to speak.

Hopefully this will assist you in your troubleshooting, if you have any more questions about the graph or processes you find,  feel free to post back.
