Norton Security Suite, scan (1 file now), scans multiple files, and reports files skipped, why?  (5/11/2014).

Scan Now = Quick Scan, right?

Scanning 1 file, the results show 3 files scanned, and later 2 files scanned.  Subsequent scans report 2 files scanned.

The Export of 1 file scanning results shows 2 files skipped, and later 1 file skipped.  Subsequent scans report 1 file skipped.

Why is a scan now later reported as a quick scan?

Why when scanning 1 file, does it report any more than 1 file being scanned?

Why when scanning 1 file, does it skip a file, (or files); and on subsequent scans, change the scan files count, but never 1.

How can I be assured what file(s) were scanned, although it does show me the target file?

How can I found out the files that were initially skipped (2); and on subsequent scans (1)?

Details and evidence: XP pro SP3, Norton Security Suite (N360.exe, V 12.11.2.6, Build TIme Thu Feb 20 23:08:11 2014) I have downloaded a pdf file, and to be safe, I locate the downloaded file and do a right-mouse scan now.  (On 1 file)

The scan now results report that 3 files were scanned.  Really?  So I scan now again, and it reports (and subsequently on retries) that 2 files were scanned.  So I export results and find that 1 file was skipped?  WTH, What the heck?

It shows me the scan target (thank you)

It shows me that security risks detected: 0 (thank you)

Says Skipped Files: 1???  WTH (What The Heck) What file was skipped?

This creates a confidence breach in the product.  Which of my 1 file(s) was scanned, which of my 1 file(s) were skipped?

Question: From the evidence, what file was skipped?

Question: Why when scanning one file, does it first scan 3 files; and on subsequent scans, scan 2 files?

Thank you, DW.

(PS: I have scanned the forums, and found that during repeat scans, files previously scanned are skipped.  This was applicable to quick scan and related to the files having been scanned with the most recent update of the scanner files.  However, this is not a quick scan, it is not a full scan, and it should be a complete scan of 1 downloaded file.)
