Norton Security Suite-Ugly Green Check Marks blotting out my icons

Norton has started putting a green box and check mark so as to obscure my icons and make my desktop look very ugly.

How do I get rid of these things. I checked "backup status overlays" to "off" because I thought this might be the source of the problem. If I don't get this fixed soon Norton is history on my computer.

They did this to me once before when their backup program caused my hard drive on my Lenovo laptop to constantly read & write making it noisy all the time. It took me months to find out that Norton was causing the problem, at which point it was removed immediately. That was 2 years ago. I was giving Norton another chance when I loaded this scurity suite.

When you anti-virus software does things that viruses do and slow down your computer and deface your icons, it is no better than the virus and needs to be removed.

Are these guys trying to lose customers???

That is the exact function you are looking for. After turning off the Backup overlays it is possible that you need to reboot, or restart the explorer.exe to get the non overlayed icons...

If that still can not help I would clear the windows icon cache, then check it again.
