Norton Security Toolbar v2014.7.12.30 crashes Chrome

I'm having some trouble with my Chrome Norton Toolbar/Identity Safe extension.

I have a standalone Norton Identity Safe install v2014.7.11.42.  I have had the Chrome Norton Toolbar/Identity Safe extensions installed for a while and working.  I originally installed them through the standalone install (that is the only way that I could install the toolbar on this PC).  There is a settings button in the standalone which takes you to a General tab.  On that tab, there is a section for Browser Extensions that gives you a status of the required Identity Safe extensions on your PC for IE, Chrome and Firefox as well as provides an install link if you do not have the extensions installed.

Chrome just started freezing up upon opening when trying to start the Norton Security Toolbar last week.  So I uninstalled Norton Identity Safe and Chrome from my PC, reinstalled Chrome, reinstalled Norton Identity Safe and then used the above method to reinstall the browser extensions.  Again, when the Toolbar extension attempts to enable, Chrome crashes (freezes).

I know there is a new version of the Norton Toolbar, however the install link in Norton Identity Safe takes you to the old Toolbar install.  Is it supposed to do that?  Should it take you to the new version?  This is the install link that Identity Safe provides: https://identitysafe.norton.com/client?product=idsafe&SSDCAT=314&lang=en&product=idsafe

Incidentally, I did attempt to install the newer version of the Norton Security Toolbar (and the Identity Safe extension) from this link that a fellow poster provided (after again uninstalling everything and reinstalling): https://identitysafe.norton.com/client?server=1

This seems like a generic install link that does not know what Norton product you're attempting to install the Toolbar from.  There is a product dropdown, that did not exist with the first link above.  I left the product dropdown set to Norton Security or Norton Security with Backup and this time it took me to the v2015.5.4.11 version of the Toolbar Install.  I proceeded and the install did not crash my browser but after I installed both the Toolbar and the Identity Safe extension, the Identity Safe toolbar would not appear in Chrome, no matter what I tried.

So now the only browser that actually has a working version of Norton Toolbar with Identity Safe on my PC is IE, which I rarely use.  I'm close to ditching Identity Safe out of sheer frustration at this point.  Any help would be appreciated.
