A couple of months back I turned on my PC and I noticed the Action Center had a red flag. When I checked the message it said I had no Anti Virus installed. I have Norton Security and the subscription was active. I just reinstalled and did not think anything more about it. Yesterday I started my PC and the same thing occurred. This time I checked my Event Viewer to see if there was a clue to why Norton Security was not starting up. I did not see any indication that there was a program malfunction of any kind. I did find the Icon for Norton Security on my Start Menu and started Norton Security. Norton Security indicated that the definitions were about a month out of date and the last time the PC was scanned was about a month ago. I ran live update and it downloaded about a 65 MB update and after a reboot it worked fine.
I did not run system restore on my PC. So that is not why this occurred. I did not run the Norton Removal Tool on my PC. I scanned my PC for Malware with MalwareBytes and an online scanner and there were no viruses on my PC. I checked my Event Viewer and there is no event that shows there was a problem with Norton. I scanned the Hard Drives for SMART errors and also ran ChkDsk to scan the file system and all tests came back negative. I have all Microsoft Updates for my OS. The last thing is there are no other users besides myself and my wife on this PC and she would not disable Norton.
I have seen other people have had this issue in the past and I am wondering if anyone knows why it is occurring. Thanks for any help in advance.
