Norton Service Framework has stopped working

I installed Norton Internet Security on 3 computers a week ago.  After some glitches, two seem to finally be working properly (I shut them down for over a day in frustration & when I brought them back up- they were working fine again).  I was replacing last years Norton Int Sec.,  bought a disc in a retail store, loaded it via external harddrive to an Acer w/ Windows Vista & it loaded fine & registered.  When I open it & try to use it- I get the error message 8504,104 "Norton Service Framework has stopped working".  I have deleted & reinstalled w/ disc twice, downloaded Norton Power eraser & run it & reinstalled twice, downloaded Norton Removal & Reinstall twice. I even tried downloading the Norton from my Norton account, since it had already been registered.  Am I doing something wrong on install?  Help!
